Hiking With Kids: A Disaster Waiting to Happen

I’m part of non-profit launching this year that aims to promote mental well-being through engaging in nature. Check out the Trailblazing Hope website.

I’ll be guest posting on their site regularly. The first article I wrote is about hiking with kids, or as I sometimes call it: A Disaster Waiting to Happen. It is total click bait; no children were harmed in the creation of the post.

I’ve also been MIA for a few weeks on this site for a couple reasons. As I alluded to in earlier posts, I am learning how to care for myself on a deep, comprehensive, and compassionate level. That has meant seeking help from medical experts, coaches, friends, and my own intuition as I navigate strengthening my body and recovering from years of extreme stress. I’m happy to report that I’m doing really well in that vein. The last week was a bit of a dumpster fire in that I walked into poison oak (or sumac) while hiking, which is the second reason I haven’t written much. It also leads me back to the name of my guest post, though I was alone during that hike and can’t assign any blame to children.

Excuse me while I drown myself in a tub of aloe vera and self-pity.
